Summer Youth Volunteers Needed!

Volunteering in a summer camp is great way to gain experience working with people and children, learn skills that you can’t learn anywhere else and have fun while doing it. We are looking for youth volunteers 13 years of age and older to assist Museum Mania staff with programming.

Museum Mania is a day camp for children ages 6- 10, it runs for 7 weeks throughout the summer. There are 5 weeks in July and 2 weeks in August. Camp will run Monday- Friday each week from 9 a.m. to 4p.m. Youth volunteers are needed from 8:30a.m- 4:30p.m each day. Each day you attend is 8 hours towards the total 40 hours necessary for high school graduation, if you will be graduating from grade 8 in June 2019 you will be eligible to begin collecting hours. At camp, you will play games, assist campers with crafts, help cook and clean up. You will also be an active supervisor on local outings and adventures.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please complete the attached application and return to the Delhi Tobacco Museum & Heritage Centre by 4:00 p.m. on Friday June 14th, 2019. Drop off can be done in person to the front desk, or the document can be scanned to sarah.gilbert@norfolkcounty.ca.

There will be a volunteer orientation session Tuesday June 18th from 5:00 – 7:00p.m and Sunday June 23rd from 12- 2p.m. You must attend one in order to volunteer with Museum Mania. The orientation will include a tour of the museum, review of expectations and duties that are to be fulfilled as a volunteer, AODA training, basic first aid skills, and pizza. Please email the summer Program Coordinator, Sarah Gilbert, with the orientation date you would like to attend.

If you are 16 years of age or older, you are required to provide the Museum with a Criminal Reference Check prior to your first day of volunteering. Please contact the Museum as soon as possible to receive a formal letter which you will need to present to the OPP in order to complete the 2-week Criminal Reference Check process.

Volunteer forms are available at the Museum and in the link below.
